2026 Christmas time goalie camps in Espoo, Finland

Premium goalie camps during Christmas break

CAMP 1: December 21-22.

CAMP 2: December 28-29.

Premium camp: Only four goalies on the ice

Age and level requirement: These camps are for U12-pro goalies but I can take high level U10-12 goalies by application. I just want to make sure the goalie actually benefits from the camp and is not at the level of learning very basics since we will work on details that make a real difference. Shooters are U20-pro guys so they can adjust shots based on the goalie in the net.

Info about drills:

The goal is to focus on techniques so we want to avoid lactate build up especially during the first day. Meaning that we try not to get too tired by keeping the heart rate below maximum zones and rotating before legs start burning. I typically plan the first half of the ice and the second half drills will be determined based on what I see during the first half. Each day we will work on everything but these are preliminary main themes.

Ice session 1 . Tracking, hands, stance / posture, coverage and positioning. This is a very technical day, and movement is done with 50-80% effort. Shouldn't feel too heavy but we will get lots of shots and really try to focus on optimizing hands so you catch more. This is not your typical “hands forward stuff.”

Ice session 2. Skate blade techniques, movement, pushes, stops and positioning. Lots of game-like situations that require sharp pushes and stops and will put the goalie in uncomfortable situations. My goals is to give different tools and options to solve those situations. To manage load we will mix easy drills and harder movement drills. This will be the heaviest session for legs.

Ice session 3. We will start the ice with lots of repetitions for hands and do drills that we did on day one. Second half is game like situations. Last 15 minutes we’ll do tons of shots.

Shooters are U20sm - Pro level guys

Price: 950€ (both camps 1500€)

MY COACHING STYLE AND WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH ME

My coaching style could be summarized: This is why you got scored on, these are options how to fix it and this is what you need to do to get better overall. My goal is to provide as much information as possible, give different options and help you find what works the best for you. At the end you choose how you want to play and my job is to give you tools and teach you how to use those tools the best of your abilities.

My mental approach with every goalie is that “What you’ll have to do to make it to the NHL?” Because if you try to reach the moon you may end up on the top of the tree but if top of the tree is your goal you’ll never have a chance to reach the moon.

CAMP DESIGNED NOT TO BE JUST JUMPING FROM A ONE DRILL TO ANOTHER

I used to have camps with 20-30 goalies and sometimes even scoring camps combined with the goalie camp. Reason why I don’t do those anymore is that four goalies is the absolute maximum number you can actually give individual attention and to customize the drills. With maximum of 4 goalies on the ice, I can change the drills on the fly based on what I see. Only draw back is that due to less people sharing the cost of ice my prices needs to be higher but goalies say that value you’ll get is worth it.

SUCCESS AND RESULTS

Here is a list of achievements goalies have had after attending my camps:

  • NHL contracts

  • Top European pro league contracts

  • U16 - Men’s National team selections

  • U16-U20 world championships

  • NCAA D1 championships

  • Junior league championships

  • State / providence championships

  • Best goalie of the league and tournament awards

  • All-star selections in junior, college and pro leagues

  • League MVP awards in Junior and pro leagues

I have had goalies at my camps from:

  • Finland

  • USA

  • Canada

  • Sweden

  • Norway

  • Switzerland

  • Spain

  • Netherlands

  • Russia

  • Hungary

  • Brazil

See you at the next camp!

SMALL DETAILS AND AMOUNT OF REPS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

I have been told that my attention to details and selection of drills is different what you’ll typically get at normal camps. And how much more reps you get is totally at different level.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT GOALIE CAMPS

What makes a good camp:

As a goalie I used to go to 1-2 camps every summer and as a coach I have coached at many different goalie camps all over the world. One thing I have noticed is that the camps that have a kind and caring atmosphere where people respect each other give the best results.

My experience as a goalie:

The best ice hockey goalie camps I have been at as a goalie had goalie coaches who actually cared about our development and everything was well organized.

I have personally enjoyed the comradery at big the camps and that is why I recommend everyone to attend also traditional camps with lots of goalies. Another reason why I recommend going to big camps is that you’ll get to learn from many different coaches. The downfall of big camps is that those are often just jumping from one station to another, there is no real individual attention and no time to actually work on specific things. Often coaches are also younger guys who don’t have much experience and therefore can’t see the details that experience gives you (I’m a much better coach now than 10 years ago).

The reasons why I chose not to host traditional big camps anymore are the amount of admin work it takes and the lower quality. Even with only 6 goalies, you start to run stations with time limits. The level of personal attention drops dramatically when there are more than 4 goalies on the ice.

With only 1-4 goalies I can focus on you and see details that actually make you better. With this setting, I can make sure the quality is what I want for you and I can customize training for you. For example, if we need to do a one drill for 30 minutes we can do it or do five drills in 30 minutes. The results on an individual level have been so much better compared to big camps that I can’t run big camps anymore. Only attend them as a guest coach.

My experience as a coach:

The best camps I have been at as a coach had coaches who were confident about their abilities and also okay with not having all the answers right away. When goalies and coaches are willing to listen to each other and have open minds it creates a positive learning environment that produces good results.

What to expect when working with me:

My style of coaching is very experimental. Meaning that I try to find what works for you and give you options. For example, there are many different ways to hold the glove so I test it with you to see what is the best glove position for you and how you can use different options in different situations.

Typically I plan the first half of the ice and then select drills for the second part based on what I see in the first half. I also consider your request for what you want to work on. I often make up drills on the fly if there are certain things that need to be fixed. That is why you may see some unusual drills on my social media.

I’d say the magic happens when there is attention to detail, repetitions, and time to hone the skill long enough so you can take it with you to daily life.

THE BEST ICE HOCKEY GOALIE CAMPS IN THE WORLD

My goal is that my camps are known as one of the best camps to go to when your goal is to become a pro or if you are a pro goalie who wants to take his game to the next level. That is why I take maximum of four goalies on the ice and shooters are high level players.
